It starts
with why.

A world of stories.

Why+ is a journalism and documentary storytelling project created by Mazen. We explore how systems work, why events happen, and what makes the world surprising.

Technology, geography, science, business, and human endeavour all belong here. The connection is a clear question and a story that helps make sense of it.

Made to be understood.

The format is short documentary storytelling: an intriguing opening, carefully chosen information, and an explanation that rewards your curiosity. Some questions take a minute. Others need a little longer.

Research behind the story.

We connect explanations to supporting sources where they are available. Maps, illustrations, and comparisons help show the idea; they do not replace evidence. Interpretation and time-sensitive context deserve to be treated as such.
